Former Barclays managing director Simon Bladon has been appointed as the new UK CEO of PayPal. Bladon will also serve as vice president of global entity management for the payments giant. He brings with him over two decades of experience in financial strategy, regulatory transformation, and data privacy. Bladon’s extensive tenure at Barclays included roles in the creation of Barclays International and Barclays Ventures, where he focused on engagement with fintech companies. His most recent role at Barclays was managing director, customer and digital, head of operations and control. Bladon’s appointment follows the recent additions of Alex Chriss as president and CEO, Archie Deskus as chief technology officer, and Jamie Miller as chief financial officer at PayPal.
